Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance reported that Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani attended the inauguration of Indonesia’s first bullion bank services, launched by President Prabowo Subianto at The Gade Tower in Jakarta. The inauguration covers bullion banking services operated by Pegadaian and Bank Syariah Indonesia. The President positioned bullion banking as a strategic step to strengthen the national gold industry ecosystem and support the government’s downstreaming agenda under the Asta Cita programme. He cited expected economic impacts of an IDR 245 trillion increase in gross domestic product and the creation of 1.8 million new jobs, and noted that Indonesia holds the world’s sixth-largest gold reserves.
