The National Bank of Moldova has announced an international conference, “New Technology for Old Markets”, to be held in Chisinau on 19 September 2025 in partnership with the National Bank of Romania and the Banque de France. Framed as the first large-scale international event in Moldova focused on the future of finance in emerging markets, it is intended to serve as a standing forum for dialogue between academia and public institutions. The agenda focuses on how emerging technologies, including distributed ledger technology, smart contracts and central bank digital currencies, could reshape traditional market architecture. Sessions will cover the use of artificial intelligence in market surveillance and risk management, DLT-based market infrastructure, digital transformation in banking, cross-border payments and regional financial integration, and open banking and API-based financial services. The conference is expected to bring together international experts, central bank representatives, policymakers and researchers, with participation confirmed from governors of European central banks. The event will run in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation.
