The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan held another information session for media representatives, this time focused on cybersecurity challenges in the financial sector. The session formed part of the central bank’s broader educational efforts to improve media understanding of current issues in central banking and finance. The training covered the most common fraud schemes in the financial sector, current cyber fraud trends and methods for preventing them. Using real examples, it addressed risks seen in banking and payment services, social engineering techniques, the dangers posed by disinformation, and issues media representatives should consider when reporting on such incidents. Practical recommendations were also provided on strengthening journalists’ personal cybersecurity and protecting information sources. The central bank described improving public awareness of financial and cybersecurity issues as a priority area and indicated that it will continue similar educational initiatives.
