The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission hosted its inaugural Industry Dialogue Series on virtual assets and Virtual Asset Service Providers and used the event to formally recognise eight registered Virtual Asset Service Providers operating within Trinidad and Tobago’s regulatory framework. The hybrid session followed the proclamation of legislation governing virtual assets and VASPs and brought together regulators, law enforcement authorities, financial sector representatives and industry stakeholders to discuss the evolving market. Presentations covered the current risk landscape for virtual assets, the legislative and regulatory framework for VASPs, suspicious activity reporting in the sector, and law enforcement approaches and emerging crypto-sector challenges. The hybrid session, held after new virtual asset legislation took effect, brought together regulators, law enforcement, financial sector representatives and industry stakeholders to discuss the evolving market, risk landscape, regulatory framework, suspicious activity reporting and emerging crypto-sector challenges.
