Mozambique's Ministry of Finance published an update on an outreach session held by the Mutual Guarantee Society (SGM) in Beira, Sofala Province, to present the FGM guarantee fund and publicise a credit line for economic recovery aimed at improving access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The Secretary of State for Sofala Province, Manuel Rodrigues, described the fund as a response to difficulties businesses face in providing guarantees to financial institutions, with the mechanism intended to reduce banks’ risk and expand credit availability. Discussions also emphasised the need for clear access criteria, faster approval processes and transparent management, and noted that the instrument’s effectiveness depends on coordinated commitment from government, financial institutions and the private sector.
