Uzbekistan's Ministry of Finance participated in a roundtable organised by the Green Climate Fund and the United Nations Development Programme on climate investment pathways in Central Asia, using the forum to outline reforms aimed at supporting the transition to a green economy and attracting green investment. Held in Astana as part of regional climate events taking place on 22–24 April 2026, the discussion centred on scaling investment and mobilising climate finance for mitigation and adaptation, including green projects in energy, transport, agriculture and industry. The agenda also covered expanding private-sector participation, strengthening public-private partnership mechanisms, and improving climate project preparation and financing. First Deputy Minister Ilhom Norqulov highlighted work to develop electric transport, expand renewable energy, raise energy efficiency, introduce carbon trading mechanisms, advance structural reforms in the energy sector and mobilise green financing, while participants underscored the importance of developing regional projects and deepening cooperation with international financial institutions.
