The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority held a workshop between Insurance Commissioner Dr Baghayo Saqware and Tanzania’s insurance agents to develop a shared understanding of issues affecting the agent channel and to collect feedback on sector priorities. The Commissioner noted that there are 1,473 insurance agents, representing about 50% of the 2,918 insurance service providers, positioning agents as a key distribution group due to their reach among citizens. Discussion and feedback covered topics including digital systems and commission arrangements, with the aim of improving agent service delivery and supporting the government’s objective of expanding the availability and distribution of insurance services nationwide. The session in Dar es Salaam was attended by senior TIRA officials, agent leaders, a senior police inspector and agents.
