The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published the programme for its 2026 Policy Research Workshop, focused on efficient and proportionate regulation for a competitive financial sector. The hybrid event will take place on 18 and 19 November 2026 at the EBA’s premises in Paris, examining how regulation affects bank capital management, credit allocation and financial market activity. Research sessions will explore regulatory arbitrage, bank and nonbank competition in lending, and how supervisory uncertainty influences voluntary capital surpluses. Discussions on financial innovation will address cyber stress tests and the role of regulation in stablecoin stability and payments. Other sessions will examine bank funding and market liquidity, alongside the effects of climate disclosures, stress test model disclosures and adverse disclosures in stablecoin markets. Bank for International Settlements General Manager Pablo Hernández de Cos and Stockholm School of Economics professor Mariassunta Giannetti are scheduled to deliver keynote speeches.
