The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will hold a hearing with François-Louis Michaud, the proposed candidate to become Chair of the European Banking Authority (EBA), ahead of a committee vote on his appointment. José Manuel Campa resigned as EBA Chair at the end of January 2026. The Council informed the European Parliament by letter dated 4 February 2026 of its intention to appoint Michaud, currently the EBA’s Executive Director, subject to confirmation by the Parliament under the EBA Regulation. ECON’s vote is foreseen for Thursday, 26 February 2026.

Michaud, currently the EBA’s Executive Director, was nominated following José Manuel Campa's resignation at the end of January 2026.
