The Securities Commission of The Bahamas reported that the Group of Financial Services Regulators agreed to work with the Office of the Attorney General to convene a joint industry session before the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force’s upcoming on-site assessment. The session will explain the Fifth Round Mutual Evaluation process and its main areas of focus, while regulators continue coordinated work to address key observations and maintain compliance with international anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing standards. At its Sept. 17 quarterly meeting, the group also reviewed work on legislation to implement the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework, which will support the exchange of tax information on crypto asset transactions. Other priorities included targeted financial sanctions reporting and guidance, coordinated financial literacy activities, and information sharing on emerging risks including cyber risk and artificial intelligence.
