Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Finance reported that the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a national strategy and implementation plan for combating money laundering and terrorist financing for 2026–30. The update followed the completion of a two-week on-site mission by assessors from the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG), who presented a preliminary draft of the country’s mutual evaluation report. The government commission overseeing this area unanimously approved a final risk assessment report covering virtual assets and virtual asset service providers. It also reviewed interim results from the existing risk mitigation plan, assessed risks in the gambling sector and considered measures being taken to reduce risks in the gambling and banking sectors. The State Financial Intelligence Service and other relevant authorities were instructed to prepare comments on the EAG draft report. Kyrgyzstan expects to defend its positions in a face-to-face meeting in spring 2027, followed by the report’s final discussion during the EAG Plenary Week in Tashkent in May 2027.
