The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced it has officially assumed the 2026 chairship of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) following a handover from the Securities Commission Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. The SEC set out an agenda centred on regional capital market integration, inclusion, sustainability and cooperative enforcement, aligned with the Philippines’ upcoming ASEAN chairship. Under the Philippine SEC’s chairship, priorities include strengthening market integrity, deepening coordination on supervision, enforcement and corporate governance, and promoting the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence to support trust in ASEAN capital markets. The work programme also includes accelerating sustainable finance for mitigation and resilience through development of the first phase of the Mitigation co-benefit and Adaptation for Resilience (mARs) Guide, developing a code of conduct for external reviewers of sustainable finance products, and supporting a Capital Market Financial Literacy Toolkit as a common reference for regionally aligned education initiatives.
