The Bank of the Lao PDR convened a steering committee meeting to review and evaluate implementation of two credit policies designed to expand funding to local areas and stimulate the economy, covering the 2023–2025 period and informing reporting to the government following the end of the implementation timeframe in late 2025. Consolidated results across 18 provinces showed 1,350 business units approved for loans under the local funding distribution policy, with total approved loan disbursements of LAK 2,382.71 billion. Under the economic stimulus credit policy, 56 units received interest subsidies linked to commercial-bank lending of LAK 5,517.83 billion, including LAK 3,644.14 billion eligible for subsidy, with the central bank paying LAK 174.84 billion in subsidised interest. Participants also received a briefing on the Lao PDR’s public debt management policy direction through 2030 and discussed forward work to be submitted for consideration ahead of seeking further guidance from the government.
