The Central Bank of Brazil has published its annual Economics and Finance Research Report, summarising the institution’s 2025 research activity and its use in supporting public policy formulation. The report highlights 29 papers published through the bank’s Working Papers series, its main research channel, alongside 18 BC Blog posts and research published in international academic journals. The 29 working papers involved 65 authors, of whom 29% were from the Department of Studies and Research, 14% from other Central Bank of Brazil units, 21% from Brazilian universities, 22% from foreign universities and 14% from other institutions. The most frequent topics were finance and banking economics, macroeconomics and monetary economics, microeconomics, and labour economics. The report also points to research events held with external partners, including the third annual Central Bank conference, which selected 42 papers from 330 submissions, and the ninth Research Network workshop, which featured 11 studies and 25 staff participants. It also notes that the 2026 to 2029 Research Agenda was launched in December 2025, setting priorities in macroeconomics and finance and in the National Financial System to guide future academic output and external partnerships.
