The Central Bank of Uruguay and the Ministry of Economy and Finance issued a joint statement noting that Alberto Estrada’s mandate as president of the Securities Market Promotion Commission (CPMV) ended on 12 August, and thanking him for his contribution. The CPMV brings together representatives of public and private entities focused on strengthening the development and functioning of Uruguay’s capital market. Appointed by the Executive Branch in April 2021, Estrada led work that the authorities link to milestones aimed at invigorating the securities market, including initiatives that fed into legal changes and innovative regulatory processes, as well as proposals submitted to the Ministry and the Central Bank.
