The ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) published an alert warning of a suspected fraudulent scheme and false and misleading claims made by an entity or purported entity named SGV Advisory FZ LLC or Strategic Global Ventures via the website sgv-group.com, including claims implying FSRA licensing and regulatory cover. The website is described as offering an investment platform for General Partner (GP) investors with a target of USD 500,000 and stating that clients can obtain “FSRA license cover from day one”, including through a “Resident Director”. The named “Resident Director” is an Approved Person for another FSRA-licensed entity, but the FSRA confirmed the individual has no connection to Strategic Global Ventures and did not authorise use of their name or image. The FSRA warned that Strategic Global Ventures is not, and has never been, granted Financial Services Permission to carry on any Regulated Activity in or from ADGM and is not, and has never been, incorporated in ADGM or licensed to undertake commercial activities in ADGM. The FSRA advised investors not to deal with any firm unless its authenticity and permissions are verified via the FSRA Public Register, and to check the ADGM Registration Authority’s Public Register where a firm claims to be incorporated or registered in ADGM.
