The South Korea Financial Supervisory Service reported that corporate financing through equity and debt issuance fell 38% from July to KRW 16.3311 trillion in August 2026. Equity issuance dropped 69.5% to KRW 454.9 billion, while debt issuance declined 36.1% to KRW 15.8762 trillion. Combined issuance of commercial paper and short-term bonds decreased 14.9% to KRW 149.0692 trillion. Public equity offerings fell 79.4% to KRW 294.3 billion, reflecting the previous month’s large Hanwha Solutions offering, although initial public offering proceeds rose 160.7% to KRW 160.6 billion across six KOSDAQ listings. Corporate bond issuance fell 88.8% to KRW 310 billion, with all proceeds used for refinancing, while financial debenture issuance declined to KRW 14.8138 trillion. Asset-backed securities issuance increased 249.1% to KRW 752.4 billion. Commercial paper issuance fell 16.5% to KRW 46.2474 trillion, and short-term bond issuance decreased 14.2% to KRW 102.8218 trillion.
