The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission has launched a national investing debate competition involving 22 secondary school teams. The investor education initiative will ask students to research and debate investing, investor protection, financial literacy and wider financial sector issues, with the aim of strengthening their ability to assess financial information and investment risks. The preliminary round will take place on Sept. 28, 2026, with six teams advancing to the semifinals on Oct. 16 and two reaching the final on Oct. 30. Finance, investment and education professionals will assess teams on their arguments, evidence, rebuttals, presentation and overall debating performance. Prizes will include book vouchers and internship opportunities with the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and the Inter-American Development Bank.
