The Maldives Monetary Authority announced that newly minted MVR 100 notes from the Ran Dhihafaheh series and a new print run of the MVR 20 note will be issued into circulation from 17 February 2026 to meet increased cash demand and replace damaged notes returned to the authority. Both denominations are signed by Governor Ahmed Munawar and bear the date 31 July 2025. The updated MVR 20 design includes the Maldivian rufiyaa symbol on both sides, with the denomination shown on the left and the face value displayed at the top right and on the right side, while the new MVR 100 design also features the rufiyaa symbol, consistent with the MVR 100 note issued on 7 July 2024. The new notes will circulate alongside existing MVR 20 and MVR 100 notes.
