The Central Bank of Peru published an update on mortgage credit showing outstanding home-purchase loans grew 6.1% year on year in July 2025, the fastest pace since March 2023. The increase was mainly driven by growth in PEN-denominated mortgages, reinforcing the continued preference for local-currency housing finance. PEN mortgages expanded 7.2% year on year, while total mortgage credit rose 0.3% month on month in July (PEN loans +0.4%). Outstanding mortgage credit reached PEN 72,790 million in July 2025, including PEN 68,053 million in PEN-denominated loans. Dollarization continued to edge lower, with 6.5% of mortgage loans granted in USD in July, compared with 6.6% in June 2025.
