The Bank of the Lao received a delegation from the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) as part of AMRO’s 2025 annual work to monitor and follow Lao PDR’s macroeconomic conditions. The visit was framed as a courtesy call and briefing to the central bank’s leadership on the macroeconomic situation and AMRO’s recent work. The AMRO delegation was led by Yasuto Watanabe and met Deputy Governor Sulisak Thanuvong and relevant departments. The briefing covered AMRO’s activities as secretariat and macroeconomic surveillance function for ASEAN+3 members, as well as AMRO’s forward work plan. The Bank of the Lao also highlighted AMRO’s technical assistance, including secondments of central bank staff to AMRO under its Secondment Program for capacity building and knowledge exchange.
