The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that foreign exchange reserves fell by USD 2.88 billion in July 2026 to USD 594.27 billion at month-end. The change reflected returns from reserve management, exchange rate movements among reserve currencies against the U.S. dollar and central bank intervention to smooth volatile capital flows and maintain an orderly foreign exchange market. Foreign portfolio investors held securities and New Taiwan dollar deposits with a market value of USD 1.6631 trillion at the end of July, equivalent to 280% of foreign exchange reserves. The next reserves release is scheduled for Sept. 4, 2026.
