The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) issued an alert about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens related to Chong Hing Bank Limited that have been reported to the HKMA, linking to the bank’s corresponding press release. The HKMA reminded the public that banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not request sensitive personal information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS, including via embedded hyperlinks. Individuals who have provided personal information or carried out financial transactions through or in response to the fraudulent websites or login screens were advised to contact Chong Hing Bank using the details in the bank’s press release and report the matter to the Police.
