The European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) reported calls for more consistent application of existing rules and removal of national distribution barriers at its second European Long-Term Investment Fund (ELTIF) forum in Paris. Participants viewed ELTIF 2.0 as having revived the market through strong growth in fund launches, with attention now shifting from product structuring toward distribution, liquidity and operational readiness. The discussions renewed the call for national alignment made at EFAMA’s first forum in 2025. More consistent supervisory treatment of liquidity management tools and valuation practices was identified as a priority for enabling ELTIFs to operate at scale across the European Union. EFAMA Director General Tanguy van de Werve emphasized addressing operational challenges through consistent application by national competent authorities rather than additional rules or Q&As. Participants also called for wider use of tax incentives and investor education to increase retail participation, alongside regulatory equivalence frameworks and education in non-EU markets to support international recognition and distribution.
