The Dubai Financial Services Authority issued a statement congratulating Waleed Saeed Abdul Salam Al Awadhi on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Commodities Authority. The DFSA noted that the appointment was made by Federal Decree (2) of 2025 with the rank of Under-Secretary and is effective from 4 February 2025, and that Al Awadhi served as the DFSA’s Chief Operating Officer from 2013 until his appointment. The statement highlighted Al Awadhi’s role in leading the DFSA’s digital transformation programme and the re-forming of its Authorisation team. It also noted his representation of the DFSA at international standard setters including the International Organization of Securities Commissions, the Islamic Financial Services Board and the Union of Arab Securities Authorities, as well as his participation on the UAE National Anti-Money Laundering and Combatting Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Illegal Organizations Committee supporting the UAE’s efforts to exit the Financial Action Task Force grey list.

Dubai Financial Services Authority marks appointment of former COO Waleed Al Awadhi as Securities and Commodities Authority CEO
The Dubai Financial Services Authority announced the appointment of Waleed Saeed Abdul Salam Al Awadhi as CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority, effective 4 February 2025. Al Awadhi, previously DFSA's Chief Operating Officer, led its digital transformation and represented the DFSA at international standard setters.
