The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission held the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee, which advises the agency on issues at the intersection of technology, law, policy and finance. The meeting focused on how regulation can respond to developments shaping derivatives and other financial markets. Members discussed the evolution of cryptocurrency regulation, artificial intelligence and computing in derivatives markets, and prediction markets and novel event contracts. Committee Chair Walt Lukken said the group would provide practical advice based on the experience of market operators, users and technology developers.
