The Central Bank of Nicaragua published its Monthly Economic Activity Index for June 2026, showing year-over-year growth of 1.8%, up from 0.9% in May. Economic activity increased 3.6% in the first half of 2026, while average annual growth was 4.9%. The seasonally adjusted index rose 0.3% from May and 1% from June 2025, while the trend-cycle series declined 0.1% on the month but grew 1.5% year over year. Energy and water recorded the strongest annual growth at 17.9%, followed by construction at 11.3%, hotels and restaurants at 8.6%, and livestock at 7.8%. Mining and quarrying contracted 15.5%, largely because of lower gold extraction, while manufacturing fell 4% amid weaker production of textiles, nonmetallic products and automotive harnesses. Fishing and aquaculture declined 3.2%, and public administration and defense fell 3%.
