The Bank of Spain used its third annual Conduct Supervision Forum to set out its conduct supervision priorities for 2025, with the Governor, José Luis Escrivá, reiterating that customer protection and appropriate customer treatment are core expectations for all institutions. The Bank also flagged that its conduct supervision function is being transformed to place greater emphasis on preventive supervision, sector-wide risk identification, and the use of data and innovative tools. For 2025, the focus areas include compliance with responsible lending principles in the granting of consumer credit, cross-selling practices, and internal controls and other elements linked to conduct governance. The forum brought together 20 institutions and six professional associations representing the full sector.
