The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that FinCERT, its financial sector Computer Incident Response Center, has been admitted to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams, or FIRST, after meeting the organization’s membership requirements. The development links the center to an internationally recognized network of incident response and security teams and is intended to strengthen coordination on cybersecurity incidents across Azerbaijan’s financial sector. FIRST brings together teams from government, commercial and academic sectors. According to the central bank, membership will expand trusted international cooperation, improve access to advanced practices, strengthen operational information sharing and support the development of computer incident response capabilities. FinCERT receives and analyzes information on cybersecurity incidents in the financial sector and coordinates relevant follow-up, with a mandate that also includes stronger early warning, sectorwide coordination and improved cyber resilience among financial market participants.
