At TIBA’s annual meeting in Zanzibar, Tanzania Insurance Commissioner Dr. Baghayo Saqware urged the association and the wider insurance sector to align their activities with National Development Vision 2050. The message extends the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority’s recent emphasis on expanding access to insurance and supporting sector growth under the national development framework. Saqware called on the industry to improve its public standing through timely claims payments, quality service and dignified treatment of customers. He also emphasized sustainable annual growth, ethical conduct and the exclusion of fraudulent practices from insurance operations, while indicating that the authority would work with TIBA to strengthen relevant guidelines and policies.
