The UAE Ministry of Justice has completed preparations to host the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi from Sept. 26 to Oct. 1, 2026. Between 3,000 and 5,000 participants from more than 97 countries are expected to attend, with discussions focused on strengthening crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law amid technological change and evolving criminal threats. The congress will address organized and cross-border crime, cybercrime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering, environmental crime and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in criminal justice. Its principal expected outcome is the draft Abu Dhabi Declaration, which sets priorities for the next five years across prevention and resilience, justice and the rule of law, evolving criminal threats, and innovation and cooperation. Agreement has been reached on 98% of its 18 articles and 67 paragraphs. The declaration is scheduled for adoption during the high-level segment on the congress’s first day. The UAE will hold the congress presidency for the following five years, supporting implementation of its outcomes and related international cooperation.
