The Bank of Italy published national banking data for June 2026 showing that private sector lending, adjusted under the European System of Central Banks’ harmonized methodology, grew 3.3% year over year, up from 3.1% in May. Household lending growth edged up to 2.7% from 2.6%, while growth in lending to non-financial corporations slowed to 3.2% from 3.5%. Private sector deposits increased 2.8%, and bond funding rose 6.0%, compared with 2.7% and 4.1%, respectively, in May. The annual percentage rate of charge on new household mortgages declined marginally to 3.95% from 3.96%, while the rate on new consumer loans fell to 10.33% from 10.37%. Rates on new lending to non-financial corporations rose to 3.70% from 3.67%, comprising 4.38% for loans up to EUR 1 million and 3.36% for larger loans. The rate on outstanding deposits increased to 0.67% from 0.65%.
