The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by Deputy Governor Nesrin Shileku-Shala, met Ireland’s non-resident Ambassador to Kosovo, Ragnar Almqvist, to discuss recent financial-sector reforms and the central bank’s work to advance its legal and regulatory framework. The discussion covered legislative initiatives in the financial sector and work on financial inclusion, access to finance and financial education. The central bank also outlined its institutional mandate and capacities, its cooperation with international financial institutions and regional and European regulatory and supervisory authorities, and provided an update on Kosovo’s progress on financial integration through SEPA and the TIPS Clone project. The parties reconfirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in support of aligning the central bank’s legal framework with European Union standards and Kosovo’s integration into relevant European mechanisms.
