The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) held its Monetary Reference Rate (TRM) at 5.75%, citing continued domestic growth, low and stable expected inflation and balanced macroeconomic conditions. The TRM was 6.25% in September 2025 before 25-basis-point cuts in October and January 2026, and has since been held. The rate guides the cost of one-day Córdoba liquidity operations, while the one-day Monetary Repo and Monetary Deposit window rates remain at 7.00% and 4.50%, respectively. Economic activity continues to expand across most sectors, supported by domestic demand, merchandise exports, private-sector credit and external inflows, while unemployment remains low despite moderating formal employment. Monetary policy has supported the national currency and exchange rate while strengthening international reserves. Globally, geopolitical and trade uncertainty is affecting prices and supply chains, with growth expected to slow and elevated energy prices potentially prolonging restrictive policy in advanced economies. The BCN will monitor external and domestic indicators and adjust the TRM when necessary.
