Argentina's Ministry of Finance published an account of Economy Minister Luis Caputo's remarks to the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors, in which he presented macroeconomic stability and private investment as the foundations of Argentina's growth strategy. Caputo reported that since December 2023 the government has reduced real public spending by 30%, eliminated the fiscal deficit and the Central Bank's quasi-fiscal deficit, and cut taxes by an amount equivalent to 3% of gross domestic product. Caputo also highlighted recently approved labor reforms aimed at increasing formal employment and a new Central Bank charter that strengthens its independence and prohibits financing the Treasury deficit. He reported that projects worth about USD 50 billion have been approved under the Incentive Regime for Large Investments, with a further USD 150 billion under evaluation, and said Argentina is set to record per capita growth for the first time in 16 years while running fiscal and current account surpluses.
