The Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador reported that the Industrial Production Index rose 3.2% in July 2026 from a year earlier, driven by electricity, manufacturing, water supply and related services. The calculation incorporates updated references and revisions from the quarterly accounts through the second quarter of 2026. Electricity activity grew 7.5% as high temperatures and limited rainfall pushed energy demand to historically elevated levels. Hydroelectric generation fell 72.6%, increasing reliance on thermal generation and imports, while solar generation rose 35.1% following the addition of capacity. Water supply and related services expanded 5%, and manufacturing grew 2.3%, supported by food and beverages, export manufacturing and construction related inputs. Mining and quarrying contracted 3.5% because of higher cement imports, the seasonal absence of salt production and a strong comparison with July 2025, although construction activity remained elevated.
