National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine Chair Oleksii Semeniuk discussed proposals to introduce personal investment accounts and update the voluntary pension savings system in an interview with Business Censor. The measures are intended to help individuals build long-term capital and channel savings into long-term investment. Legislative proposals for personal investment accounts would allow investment income to qualify for tax relief where specified conditions are met and funds are invested for at least three years. The pension reforms under development would strengthen requirements for pension funds and their owners, corporate governance, capital and asset controls. The commission is also considering a mechanism to guarantee pension savings.
