The National Bank of Moldova reported that net foreign currency supply from individuals covered 110.3% of businesses’ net demand in August 2026, up from 100.2% in July. The central bank made net purchases of EUR 19 million in the domestic interbank market under these conditions. Net supply from individuals fell 4.6% from July to EUR 390.5 million, while businesses’ net demand declined 13.3% to EUR 354.1 million. For January through August, the coverage ratio was 95%, compared with 83.4% in the same period of 2025. The average exchange rate moved to MDL 20.0541 per EUR from MDL 20.0917 in July, while the euro accounted for 69.1% of individuals’ net foreign currency supply.
