The National Bank of Moldova published an update on its Global Money Week programme running from 16 to 22 March 2026, highlighting mentoring sessions for pupils and students led by Romanian financial education expert Irina Chițu on practical personal budgeting. Held under the theme “Personal budget in real life: how to manage your money smartly”, the workshops covered building a simple budget, analysing income and spending, and identifying ways to use financial resources more responsibly, including cutting costs, renegotiating expenses and goal-based saving. Participants were introduced to a “pay yourself first” approach that emphasises automatic saving and clear objectives, as well as structuring a budget across savings, needs and wants and tracking recurring small expenses that can materially affect annual finances. The update also notes Chițu’s participation in the “FinanciarELE” female leadership community event on 17 March 2026, which brought together nearly 200 pupils and students. Activities conclude on 22 March 2026 with guided tours of the National Bank of Moldova’s exhibition hall over the weekend, open to the public. The programme forms part of a global initiative involving 176 countries, with the National Bank of Moldova acting as national coordinator in Moldova.
