The Bank of Korea reported that the country’s official foreign reserves increased by USD 0.6 billion during July to USD 427.9 billion at month-end. Securities accounted for USD 380.0 billion, or 88.8% of total reserves, while deposits stood at USD 23.1 billion and special drawing rights at USD 15.7 billion. Gold remained at USD 4.8 billion and the country’s International Monetary Fund position at USD 4.3 billion. South Korea held the world’s 10th-largest foreign reserves at the end of June, when they totaled USD 427.4 billion.
