The International Monetary Fund published a technical assistance report on a monetary and financial statistics mission (July 29–August 9, 2024) that supported the National Bank of Rwanda in broadening the coverage of monetary and financial statistics (MFS) to include other financial corporations (OFCs) and compiling an OFCs Survey aligned with the 2016 Monetary and Financial Statistics Manual and Compilation Guide (2016 MFSMCG). Work during the mission also covered development of a Balance Sheet Approach (BSA) matrix with full financial sector coverage and additional data from the external, fiscal, and real sectors, consistency checks across data for the central bank, other depository corporations (ODCs) and OFCs, and integration of MFS across stocks, transactions, and other flows. The mission provided hands-on training on MFS compilation issues to staff in the National Bank of Rwanda’s Statistics Department.
