The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan held discussions with Marko Skreb, former Governor of the Croatian National Bank and an IMF consultant, on priorities for strengthening the Bank’s analytical function and building institutional research capacity over the medium term. The agenda covered clarifying the role of research within the central bank, systematising research processes, strengthening the research environment, enhancing the framework for research staff, and improving how research outputs are used in decision-making. It also highlighted initiatives to raise the quality and consistency of research products, develop modern analytical and modelling tools, expand cooperation with external experts and academic institutions, and integrate research findings more effectively into policy discussions. As part of the visit, the Bank is conducting lectures, presentations and working sessions with the Research Department to support analytical capacity-building and knowledge exchange.
