The Central Bank of Türkiye completed its evaluation of applications to join the digital Turkish lira project ecosystem, selecting 23 projects from 12 banks and six payment and electronic money institutions for development and sandbox testing. Six additional projects were placed on hold and may enter the third stage later. The authority received 85 applications from 16 banks and 25 payment and electronic money institutions, with participating applicants also able to collaborate with financial technology companies. Of these, 51 reached the second evaluation stage. The 23 selected projects cover overlapping use cases, including programmable payments, tokenization, interoperability with existing systems, self-sovereign identity and machine-to-machine payments.
