The Central Bank of Peru published mortgage credit data showing that housing lending rose 7.1 percent year on year in April 2026 and 0.7 percent from March. Growth was driven by lending in PEN, while USD-denominated mortgage loans continued to contract. PEN mortgage lending increased 7.9 percent year on year and 0.8 percent month on month, whereas USD mortgage lending fell 4.3 percent year on year and 0.1 percent over the month. Total mortgage credit reached PEN 76,358 million, including PEN 72,248 million in PEN loans. The preference for home financing in PEN remained entrenched, with only 5.4 percent of mortgage loans denominated in USD in April 2026.
