The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) opened a proactive education programme, “Insurance Alert”, in Nakhon Ratchasima province to strengthen insurance literacy among SMEs and the public and to raise awareness of evolving forms of insurance fraud. The programme emphasised insurance as a practical risk-management tool, spanning risks such as life and property loss, business interruption and third-party liability, and urged participants to review policy terms, coverage and exclusions before purchasing. Two core sessions covered “Insurance for SMEs” (insurance principles, business-relevant insurance types, using insurance in risk management and real-case examples) and “Insurance fraud”, including electronic fraud, inducement to commit wrongdoing and scams embedded in insurance sales; the event featured speakers from across the sector, including insurance agents, brokers and non-life loss adjusters, and drew participation from relevant industry bodies such as the Thai Life Assurance Association and the Thai General Insurance Association.
