The Hong Kong Monetary Authority released Hong Kong’s latest foreign currency reserve assets figures, reporting official reserves of USD 425.4 billion at the end of July 2025, down from USD 432.0 billion at end-June. Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, reserves totalled USD 424.5 billion (end-June: USD 431.9 billion). The HKMA reported that USD 425.4 billion in reserves represents more than five times the currency in circulation, or about 37% of Hong Kong dollar M3. The HKMA also reiterated its monthly Exchange Fund data release cycle, noting that four related press releases are issued each month, including three under the International Monetary Fund’s Special Data Dissemination Standard. For August 2025, the scheduled release dates listed were 7 August (SDDS International Reserves), 14 August (SDDS Analytical Accounts of the Central Bank), and 29 August (SDDS Template on International Reserves and Foreign Currency Liquidity, and the Exchange Fund Abridged Balance Sheet and Currency Board Account).
