The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) issued a public warning that elements of identity belonging to some Moldovan financial entities are being used without authorisation in online materials promoting investment offers, and urged consumers to verify information via official channels. BNM said the promotions are disseminated through websites and marketing materials not administered by licensed financial institutions and can create the impression of legitimate investment opportunities. In some cases, users may be asked to provide contact details or transfer funds without having a contractual relationship with a supervised institution. BNM recommended that financial institutions strengthen preventive client communications and use existing internal mechanisms to identify and manage related requests, and requested licensed institutions to review and reinforce prevention and response measures to protect customers and reduce operational and reputational risks across the sector.
