The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance has repealed the 2019 requirement tied to reinsurance premium payments abroad by revoking the resolution that created the Register of Foreign Beneficiary admitted by the SSN for collection agents under Central Bank Communication A 6780. In practice, the measure removes a registration framework that had supported a prior approval requirement for that cross-border payment activity. The change follows an update to Argentina’s foreign exchange regime by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic through Communication A 8307. According to the SSN, that update altered the conditions that had justified the register, making the prior approval requirement unnecessary. The authority added that registering and maintaining the register no longer served an operational purpose because the underlying basis for its introduction had been replaced.
