Bank Indonesia’s latest Retail Sales Survey indicates that retailers expect annual sales growth to accelerate to 0.9% in July 2026, with the Real Sales Index forecast at 224.4. Growth is expected to be supported by food, beverages and tobacco, alongside spare parts and accessories and other household equipment. On a monthly basis, sales are forecast to contract by 0.3% in July as demand normalizes after the national religious festive period and school holidays, compared with a 4.1% contraction in July 2025. The index stood at 225.0 in June 2026, when sales rose 0.7% from May. Respondents expect price pressures to ease in September, with the Price Expectations Index falling to 155.2 from 178.0 in August, before rising to 168.1 in December from 167.5 in November.
