The Central Bank of Egypt published an update on Governor Hassan Abdalla’s meeting with African Development Bank Group President Sidi Ould Tah during his first official visit to Egypt since taking office in September 2025. The talks focused on expanding cooperation between Egypt and the African Development Bank Group, strengthening their existing partnership in economic development, and reviewing progress in financing strategic development projects supported by the bank in Egypt. Discussions also covered mechanisms to support financial stability and economic reform efforts across Africa, ways to increase investment flows, and financing arrangements for priority development projects. The central bank said Egypt intends to broaden its partnership with the African Development Bank Group and continue coordination on sustainable development and African economic integration. Egypt is the second-largest shareholder among the bank’s regional member countries and the third-largest overall, while the bank’s cumulative operations in Egypt have exceeded USD 8 billion since the start of cooperation.
